Gas geyser installation in Johannesburg & the West Rand

Almost every gas geyser we fit is an instantaneous (tankless) unit: it lights when you open a hot tap and heats the water as it passes through. No tank to keep hot, so no standing losses — and it keeps working through load-shedding if the igniter is battery-powered.

Storage-type gas geysers exist but are rare in homes here; if you want one, we'll talk through where it can go before you buy.

Gas geysers are sized by litres per minute, not by tank volume. The question is how many hot taps run at once:

An instantaneous gas geyser only lights above a minimum water flow, so low-pressure homes — common on older municipal lines and where the supply comes from a tank — need a model with a low start-up flow. Each model states its minimum working pressure; send us the model before you buy and we'll check it against your pressure. Where pressure is too low for any unit, a booster pump is a plumbing job to solve first.

An instantaneous gas geyser is normally mounted outside, on a wall close to the bathroom it feeds, with the flue venting to open air. An indoor unit needs a flue rated for the appliance and ventilation, and not every room qualifies. The cylinders stand outside too, away from drains, openings and ignition sources, as SANS 10087-1 sets out — we site both on the first visit.

Most jobs are conversions. The usual pattern: the gas unit goes on the outside wall, the hot line is re-routed from it, and the electric geyser is either removed or left in place as a backup — that's your call. Water pressure matters: low-pressure homes need the unit chosen for a low start-up flow.

Every gas geyser we install is leak- and pressure-tested, then gets its gas certificate of compliance from an SAQCC Gas-registered installer. Keep it — you'll need it when you sell.
